My Name is John Merrick

I absolutely loved how today went. First of all thanks to Mr. Treves, my life has completely changed. I can now be seen by people and be seen as a person rather than a freak. I felt like a normal person, and I was able to read a script with the famous Ms.Kendal. The highlight of the day was that she gave me a kiss, it gave me hope of ever being normal and gave me the feeling that everything was okay. I think that everything will be much better from now on and I really am looking forward to it.

Undeserved Misfortune

A movie that I have seen that shows a lot of undeserved misfortune is the movie "The Fault In Our Stars". This movie shows a lot of undeserved misfortune because it starts of with the protagonist whom has cancer and meets a boy whom survived cancer or so they thought. She falls madly in love with him as well as him with her. He allows her to meet one of her favorite authors and it turns out to be a waste of time since he treated them crucial. They move on from this disappointment but later on as things seem to get better, the boy seemed to had gotten cancer again. The boy tried to keep it a secret as long as he could since he didn't want his girlfriend to get sad, however everything comes out to the surface. He soon dies of cancer and everything they went through is left as just memories. This movie had me in tears through out most of it and kept me very intrigued.

I have witnessed a lot of undeserved misfortune towards my mother. She unfortunately was diagnosed with breast cancer a week after her decision with my father was to divorce and move separately. She had two surgeries and through it all, had a lot of visits to the doctor and no ability to work. Our money went down to the point where me, my little brother, and my mother had little food to eat. We were thankful enough to have a roof over our head. One day she got a call that she still had cancerous cells in her breast tissues, and was going to need once again another surgery. That same night, we got a call from Mexico that her father had passed away. She rushed to the airport and tried to buy a ticket to the next flight not caring how much money she'd owe, but thought clear once she was there. Flying wouldn't be safe for her health since she had just came out of surgery not that long ago. Fortunately, things get better with time, and now she has overcame cancer, we have gotten stable with our money, she has come to accept her fathers passing, and her and my father have come to good terms.

I think that a good idea for film contains a lot of undeserved misfortune because it makes the audiencee have a sense of sympathy for the main character.

My Film Job

The film job that I am most interested in doing in this film is the job as a screenwriter. I think I would be the best person for this job because I get along with computers very well and type very quickly. This can make the job easier and faster to get on with the rest of the movie making such as . I also think I can bring all people's ideas into one great  screenplay. I have been told that I have a good way with words and being able to convey my message of the actors feelings or thoughts through a couple of words because after all "show it, don't say it" right? I know how big of a job this is because I know it all consists and works around the screenplay. I think that me being in this film as a screenwriter will strongly benefit the production of the film at the end.

Conflict

One of the movies that I have watched that has a lot of conflict is the movie The Call. The Call consists of a teenager who gets stolen in the mall by a maniac. The story is seen through different views on how the call to 911 was done and how the girl has to cooperate to get to safety. This can be a conflict that can happen in real life to actual people. This tragic scenario can give lots of conflict because it has a lot of turns and twists on to the climax. This is what made the movie so good because just when you think something is going good, yet more problems seem to come. It shows conflict to when the girl gets taken, when the 911 receiver gets too attached, when the girl tries escaping and gets caught, and overall much more!

One of the conflicts that I have had in real life started of with a medical condition which overtime turned into something much more. Towards the end of 10th grade I got an anxiety issue which causes me to constantly be running to the restroom. I have always been a person on top of my academic success keeping only A's or B's, yet as this seemed to happen I only got worse. My level of concentration has lowered, and having to catch up and rush my classwork has helped lower my grades. Staying after school or staying for tutoring is a hassle since I feel much safer in the comforts of home and just want to leave home once the day is done. It's just a conflict I've had to deal with for about 7 months now, but to every conflict there's a solution, I hope.

I think that a good idea for a film would be something that contains a lot of conflict because it will keep the viewer intrigued and have emotions to the movie whether its fear or sadness.

My Review of the Elephant Man

I think the movie of the elephant man was amazing! I loved how throughout the movie the characters were able to change and grow as a person by experiencing something different which in this case is the presence of the famous Elephant Man or as a more formal was to say it John Merrick. When at the beginning they would just see him and get scared but towards the end found the values within his personality rather than not giving him an opportunity and looking at only his appearance. This movie is a great example of how to not judge a book by its cover and to have more hope in people. I also liked the idea throughout the movie and the plot twists of events. We can just look at a person and not know what we they have gone through or currently are going through. So one thing we shouldn't do is look at people with judgement already in our eyes.

Compassionate Science

Science is always something that will give advantages to this world. Of course, if its used for good rather than evil.  There are people in this world whom have the intelligence and dedication to give rather than take. Becoming a compassionate scientist is nothing easy of course. It takes a good amount of motivation and to have your mind set to reach whatever goals it is that need to be accomplished. Most people can start something but never finish, motivation is a big thing. Having compassion for others and being able to make a change in someone's life is more than enough as a reward for all the hard work. This can change the world drastically, giving the people of this planet more opportunities to accomplish something greater for everyone. Compassionate scientist have a reason for existence, and thanks to them the lives of many can be restored back to normality and give people the hope and faith to want to be and stay alive.

The Future

The future will be completely different than the way it is now. I see, the government taking over complete control of our lives. We, people are nothing but a number to them. I believe in the future we will have like robots that do everything for us, since they are now inventing machines to do even the simplest things. We, humans have our eyes blinded by the government, not knowing whats happening at our surroundings due to the way the government can mess with our heads and make us believe something. I believe slowly but surely, they will have the power to do with our lives what they want. This place we live  on is also slowly going to waste. With holes in the ozone layer, and drought, and pollution everywhere created by ourselves, this world will lose its value. I believe they're going to start making food out of pure chemicals at a point. Overall, I believe this place will not turn into a better place, but rather a place no one would like to call home.

One Time I Laughed Really, Really Hard

One time I laughed really, really hard. It was lunchtime, here in Bell High School. And as usual, everyone was sitting at there tables with their friends. My friends and I sat on a concrete piece that surrounds the tree. It helps keep the dirt and roots inside. However, my friend accidentally fell in, in a u-shape. Her feet and her arms were sticking out in a straight line as in reaching for her toes and her back was to the floor curved. Her face turned redder than a tomato and she couldn't get out. I was so busy laughing I wasn't even able to help her. Tears started rolling don my eyes and my stomach was aching due to so much laughter. All of our friends saw her and were laughing as well. The bell rang right after, to go to class, so I went on top of the concrete to try to help her. I was still so busy laughing that I slid and fell and hit myself flat out on the concrete. I was embarrassed but stood up quickly trying to help out my friend who was still stuck. I don't even know for how long she was stuck there with her feet and hands in the air, but I know it was the longest time I've laughed. It was something you just had to see, to understand.

Modern Times

I really enjoyed watching the movie Modern Times because it was very different compared to many movies that are played now. Even without sound or a script, the movie keeps you intrigued and doesn't bore you out. The "unintentional" humor of Chaplin's clumsiness in the movie is very funny.  I also like the meaning of the story because it gives out a message and gives clues about how the time there is. Charlie Chaplin really knows how to reach out to the audience by  feelings, and gives good facial expressions so that the audience knows what the character is feeling or thinking. Even without sound, he is able to portray every detail from the movie. The fact that he did every part of this movie himself makes me so proud due to how much work it must've taken for such an outstanding job. I also like the character that "The Little Tramp" plays, his walk and way of looks makes him very unique and makes him stand out from other actors in other films.

My Thoughts On Bullying

I think that bullying someone is a choice that someone makes. However, some use it to take out stress from there everyday lives or simply because they see this at home. Teenagers or children tend to reflect the attitude or things that happen at home and do it at school. Others tend to do it to pick on the weak and or to make themselves feel superior. I've witnessed bullying once, and it wasn't the "let me steal your lunch money" type, but rather the "lets let her sit alone" type. In one of my classes, a girl had nowhere to sit because everyone had their seats taken by their friends. she must've had a horrible day already because she entered the class crying. I had a seat but instead made a choice to go sit next to her to help her feel less alone. I think overall bullying is an unnecessary thing to do, why push people down  when we can instead help each other out.

My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is The Call. This movie is actually one of my favorite movies because it is so intense. It knows how to capture someone's attention and keep them intrigued in the movie. It is not like all other movies in which you know the ending is always happy. It has twists that keep you on the point of your toes and biting your nails. This movie has some action, as well as tension. This movie creates this feeling in people because of how they hide the person's identity and the turns it has. It keeps the audience wondering whats going to happen next. Another reason why its so interesting is because its based on something that can actually happen in real life. It gets a person wondering about whether these calls can actually occur the way they do in the movie. This movie also gets to someones emotions. I was eager to see who the man in the movie was and whether he was going to get caught or not. Overall, this movie speaks for itself. My recommendation is to go watch it!
